It could have been a bubbling brook
laughing, as it ran its course;
It could have been the Sun supreme
unleashing a mighty force;
It could have been a palace ground
filled with grandeur all corners round:
Alas! it failed to gain a space
take one-two-three to make it one
Alas! it built throne of thorns
that seat you nor I nor none
