The Poet Community

Prickly | A Poem by Guy Farmer

He lost count
Of how many times
He had to
Bite his tongue,
Change his
Narrative in order
To not elicit
Prickly reactions,
Reflexive retorts,
A frightened squid
Shooting off its ink
To cloud the waters
Of understanding,
An impassable wall
Built to keep the
Barbarians out,
A superficial
Relationship built
On strict hierarchy,
Never really
Knowing one another.

The Poet Community is completely reader supported, please help me keep it going.
