The Poet Community

Career Finder | A Poem by JD DeHart

You can be anything,
the chiming voice tells
the listless group of sitters.
It’s then that their minds
begin to wander.
What if and what if forms
over and over.
Finally, the child in the first
row raises his hand:
Miss, can I be a squirrel?
