The Poet Community

Isolation | A Poem by Paul Barrett

Help me stand
I’m down on my knees
There’s a pain inside
Its killing me

My throat is cut
My body is battered
The stone heart in my chest
Has started to shatter

Yet the more I try
To reach out with my hand
The more it hurts
But you can’t understand

The pain that echoes
Inside this head
Causes this torment
Leaves me for dead
