Cockroach Heart | A Poem by Cattail Jester

She gave them all, standing,
practicing kindnesses.

She gave them words to fill
their mouths.

Warmth to fill their dented and bashed homes.

They gave her a cockroach corpse, tossed through the air at high
velocity.

Small token of appreciation they found on the floor.
