Emily Dickinson | A Poem by Alberto Quero

I do not find you, white woman,
in the softness of the nights
because you dream of discovering love
and I love to discover dreams;
I do not find you on the world,
for it is enormous
and you do not know it and I want to ignore it

I only find you, white woman,
within that minuscule and shaky place
that all of us who are alone share.

From Alberto’s award-winning poetry book, “Los Que Vinieron,” published in Spanish by Negro Sobre Blanco Editions. Caracas, Venezuela, 2014.
