The Poet Community

Leonardo | A Poem by Alberto Quero

So many things about me have been said.
I do not know if they are lies,
but in any case they are rather extraneous.
Serious men of my most humble self
have taken care,
normally with a minimal accuracy.

So many things about me have been said;
but I am only worried about one of them:
I cannot fly

That is why observe the birds so much
And I paint them, I paint them, I paint them

From Alberto’s award-winning poetry book, “Los Que Vinieron,” published in Spanish by Negro Sobre Blanco Editions. Caracas, Venezuela, 2014.
