Rebel | A Poem by Judy Moskowitz

I need to stay in touch
With my rebel the provocateur
Of squirm and edge
Through chaos and obstruction
Always fighting for my right
To live outside the guidelines free form
In my youth she was
Tantalizing vines
Of sweet grapes for the thirsty
Serving five course meals
To hungry starving eyes
Feeding them
Delmonico steaks and
Prime rib
Taking great satisfaction
Watching them
Smack their lips
As she became stronger
My dresses became shorter
Wearing my cleavage
Anger raging like a bull
In its pen
As I’ve turned grey
My rebel stayed blonde
One half of myself
