If I Left | A Poem by Judy Moskowitz

Sound waves in the air
Floating memories
Of a life changed
If I left
Would you mourn
Be depressed
Shed a tear
For how long my dear
Would you go
Through your day as the
Great pretender
Bury your heart inside
“The Book of Longing”
Your secret place between
Leonard Cohen and
Charles Bukowski
Be the search party
Looking in every corner
On your skin
Your clothes
Just for the taste
Of pheromones
Would you have a drink
Or two or three
And forget
I wonder
